Ever since I have been a Vicar here in Ceredigion, I have thought that there ought to be a service of Thanksgiving after the Lambing.

Our usual Harvest Services, which happen in late Summer or early Autumn, are a celebration of arable agriculture: the harvest of the fields.

But here in West Wales, our farming has traditionally been the care of cattle and, especially, the care of sheep, for the production of meat and wool.

Should there not be a service of Thanksgiving for that harvest, also? The theme of our service this morning is Thanksgiving for the Lambing.
